What kind of equipment is needed for personal lessons and programs?
For all personal lessons, classes and programs the mandatory equipment is a skateboard and a helmet. Elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards are highly recommended for beginner lessons and classes. During warmer weather, knee pads are required when skating in shorts.

If you're new to skateboarding and do not yet have the necessary equipment, full rentals are available for an extra $10/session. Extra equipment will be provided for after school programs and birthday parties but supplies are limited.
What kind of skateboard is best for a beginner?
Skateboards vary based on height, shoe size, and personal preference. We recommend standard 'trick' skateboards in a 'popsicle stick' shape. Penny boards and longboards are not recommended however can be used for personal lessons and programs. For ages 3-5 we recommend skateboards with a width of 7.3-7.5”. For Ages 6-9 we recommend sizes 7.5-7.75”. For ages 10-18 we recommend sizes between 8" and 8.5". For adult beginners we recommend size 8.5" and up.
Where to buy beginner skateboards?
We have a small selection of complete skateboards available for purchase at our indoor skate space. 390 Fairfield Rd, Fairfield Nj. If we don't have the size or style yo uare looking for I would recommend checking out local retailers such as Underground Skateshop (Nutley, NJ), NJ Skateshop (Jersey City, Nj) or Cultivate Skateshop (Morristown NJ).
If you would prefer to order online we would recommend the online sites of the stores listed above or CCS.com which has a large selection of customizable beginner boards.

AVOID AMAZON, TARGET, WALMART ETC. These big box stores often sell skateboards made with cheap parts at a lower price point, these boards are often mass produced with low quality and it makes learning to skate even harder!
